I anslutning till den stora forskningsanläggningen European Spallation Source (ESS) i Lund togs i december 2018 första spadtaget till ESS Campus. Campusanläggningen, som kommer att bestå av tre byggnader, blir ESS ansikte utåt och kommer att innehålla kontor, laboratorier och verkstäder.

European Spallation Source (ESS) är en flervetenskaplig forskningsanläggning för materialforskning och life science, baserad på världens mest kraftfulla neutronkälla. Forskningsanläggningen byggs i Lund med ett Data Management & Software Centre i Köpenhamn, Danmark. Första spadtaget togs 2014 och ESS planerar att öppna för forskare 2023.

Around two to three thousand guest researchers will carry out experiments at ESS each year. Most of the users will be based at European universities and institutes, others within industry. ESS, Lund.
